The Ford RF-F87E-9K461-BA is a high-performance intake manifold designed specifically for the 1986 to 1995 Mustang GT40 models with the 302cid engine. This intake manifold, manufactured by Ford, is an upgraded version of the conventional stock intake manifold, featuring tubular upper and lower runners.
The tubular design allows for a free-flowing path for air to enter the engine, which results in improved engine breathing and overall performance. The smooth, uninterrupted airflow characteristic of this intake manifold leads to increased power and torque throughout the engine's RPM range.
The upper and lower runners are constructed from aluminum, making them both lightweight yet strong. Reducing the weight of the intake manifold not only decreases rotating mass, but it also creates a more responsive engine. Moreover, the use of aluminum helps in dissipating heat more efficiently, ensuring that the intake air temperature remains cooler for better power production.
These intake runners are also designed to provide excellent throttle response, enabling the engine to respond quickly to changes in engine load. The importance of quick throttle response is that it makes driving the Mustang GT40 feel more lively and responsive. Furthermore, the intake manifold is finished with a durable powder-coated coating, ensuring it withstands the rigors of performance driving.
The Ford RF-F87E-9K461-BA intake manifold is designed to work seamlessly with the stock or ported cylinder heads, turbochargers, or superchargers for the 302cid engine; it is essential to note that it does not include fuel rails, injectors, or a throttle body. Users will need to source and install these components separately as per their requirements.
In summary, this tubular upper and lower intake manifold by Ford (RF-F87E-9K461-BA) offers several advantages for the 1986 to 1995 Mustang GT40 models with a 302cid engine. These benefits include improved engine performance with increased power and torque, quick throttle response, and reduced intake air temperature. The intake manifold delivers a responsive driving experience while being compatible with various air induction systems.

Comes with the vacuum tree below upper intake. Nice used GT40 tubular upper and erg lower intake. No broken bolts or stripped threads any that looked questionable were helix-coiled. Parts are clean and dry ready to install, before somebody else does.
Lower intake is very clean and looks like no corrosion in the water jackets. Both have been hot tank cleaned and were pretty clean before. Looks like original paint on the upper intake, also appears to have been gasket matched and lightly ported at throttle body as well. One of the tubes has a ding on it as seen in pictures.
